AWD to RWD

Well I know there are all these electronic goodies coming out for our cars all the time from places like KP Tech and others.

But I am looking and trying to find a mod so I can turn my AWD on and off to RWD mode. knowing that it is a "part time" AWD I assume if someone creates something that turns all the traction and slip options off, I would only have RWD as the AWD system would not detect the slipping and not engage the front wheels....

Soo, what does everyone think? Anyone heard of this or think its possible? It does make sense in my mind, but then again my mind is pretty screwed up, so who knows, hahaha!

I think it would be a great option! love to be able to turn off the front wheels and do some fast U-turns or burnouts, etc.

The G35's had a fuse for the AWD system, a lot of people pulled it out or wired a switch there to switch it on and off. I'm not sure the G37 has one.

Why don't you email KP Technologies or post on their forum? I looked in our FSM's and couldn't find any info there.

It looks like there are a bunch of things that can cause the AWD to go into RWD failsafe. There is an AWD control unit, an AWD activation solenoid, etc.

The problem I see is that they all trigger a flashy light on the dash. If one didnt mind the flashy light, it looks like there are a few wires that can be "disconnected" to get the AWD system into failsafe mode. Im not sure if it bypasses all of the other "features" as well (i.e. traction control, etc)

Well, I think it would be a good idea for someone to create a unit like this. I mean I love my Awd, but sometimes you just want that red power for a little while, then go back to normal. Lol

I might look in to that whole fuse or control unit thing. Maybe install a few switches on my car so I can turn it on and off quickly.

I agree! Im AWD and occasionally regret not getting RWD (granted, the RWD LE seemed harder to find around my area because we get snow)

Maybe our next car will be RWD an M or Q-whatever.

Why would you want to turn the AWD system off? Our cars run RWD till they slip. If you go this far mind as well remove the T case and save a couple hundred pounds.

why would you want to tamper with something like that in the first place?

lol, you never know when it might be nice. I use to have RWD G35 and loved it, but I love the handling of the AWD. Therefor If I can get both, why not!
