Unhappy Transmission DS & M Problem :(

Hey guys,

It have a problem with my Transmission which i don't know how to explain right. Also am not sure if I'm posting in the right place, direct me if I'm not, please.

Car Details:

Infiniti G37S Coupe 2009 model
Rear Wheel Drive - 7AT
Have had it almost for 4 years
Have driven it about 100,800km = 62,634 miles

The problem:

When I switch from D To DS mode the car will drive with no problems on DS mode for few minutes while shifting from gear 3rd to 4th to 5th and all the way to 7th. The car will shift back the mode to D, even though the shift **** is on DS. If I try to change the gears through the paddle shifter M which is placed in the Steering Wheel. The car wont shift and it stay on D.

I have no problems with the D mode at all the car does it's job automatically wonderfully with no issues. It is just DS and M Mode. If I switch off the car for like 15 or 30 minutes the DS and M mode will work for a few minutes and again will stuck on D mode automatically.

I took it to the dealer and they are asking me to pay about 4,356 US Dollars to replace a small part in the transmission, which I believe is an electronic part. The dealer report says there is an issue with the transmission programing, but no defect or issues as a mechanical part.

I have read, through the issue around here in the forums and I can't see any solutions. I have printed a PDF remap for the transmission and I didn't try it yet. I'll have to do it this weekend.

If anyone knows different solutions, let me know, please.

It's the gear shifter, there's a sensor there that picks up whether it is on D or DS mode. I'm not sure you can replace just that sensor so you'll probably need to swap out the entire shifter assembly. 16,000 UAE dirhams is a little too much for that though, cheaper to get an MT swap for that money.

You need to replace the whole shifter assembly. This is the most probably the part you need to change: DEVICE ASSY-TRANSMIS 34901-JK60C (check the part number for your vehicle)

Infiniti Parts - Infiniti parts

Search myg37 and g35driver if you need more info.

Pretty easy DIY, just make sure you read the corresponding section in the service manual. Not quite sure which section it is of the top of my head.

Good luck!

Thank you so much CarAddict I am at the dealer and I will let them do the remapping again through the document i found around here in myg37 if it doesnt work I will ask them for the part number and am sure, those basket cases wont help! In that case I will hold things for a while and try to do more research about it. If I find things the same! I will just order this part you referred to me and replace it.

Why wouldn't this be covered under the drivetrain warranty?

The part in question is not covered by the drivetrain warranty since it's an electrical component.

Hey bro I would like to thank you again because I replaced the part and bought it through the dealer and they gave me good price on it.

Your solution worked about 100%
