Intake manifold vacuum

So I checked my wife's G sedan yesterday by gauging intake manifold vacuum (through the brake booster hose. At idle the intake vacuum was steady in the normal range = all good. No fluctuation at all. However at snap WOT it did not drop to 0 and then shoot back up high before settling back down to the normal range. Instead, at WOT vacuum increased (pegged out my gauge at 28 in Hg) and slowly sank back to normal after releasing the throttle.

Has anyone else checked it and had this happen? The car is running perfectly fine in every way but this behavior is not normal from my experience. I checked my older Maxima and it gauged normally (dropped to 0, spiked to 25, settled to 19). I did not have the chance to check my G coupe yet to compare. Why does it do this? What am I missing?
