G37s rev. Limit

Hi i have few ?'s for you guys one is is there a rev limit on the 09 g37s coupe? I was reving today and it wont go past about 5000, and is there a way to make it higher or closer to redline? And also i have the stillen gen3 intakes and was wondering why dont i hear them sucking in air like my friends g35 with a short ram? Is it becuase there so much farther down then his?

I assume you were revving in neutral...

It's a dummy rev limiter that's set on the car to 5k RPM if you're revving in neutral. It's not good to rev the engine to high RPMs with no load on it, i.e. don't rev high in neutral, bad for car.

If you actually drive the car, it'll go all the way to 7700 or so.

BTW, word of advice, NEVER approach redline slowly. You'll scorch intake valves.

Idk about the intakes though, hope someone else will chime in on that.

I mean don't slowly build up the revs to redline. Like, if you're driving and want to hear your engine at redline, don't slowly give it like 40% throttle until you get to redline.

Long story short, if you want to hear your engine at redline, do it the "proper" way and just rip through gears at your nearest on ramp

SMH... but if you really want to bypass this - Clutch in, gear in, and rev away

Rev limiter is in 09+ I believe. 08 coupe can hit redline in neutral although it's not good to do so under no load.

Negative. It's on the 08 as well.

OP, I think you should get a tune such as Uprev that can bump your redline up to 9K, sit in your driveway in neutral or park, and go to town. Hold it there as long as you like, this engine loves to rev! Screw these stupid haters.
