7 spd tranny problems

I have a 2010 base model that I brought with 37k on it. I noticed shortly after owning the car that the car jerks going thru certain gears.......even at slow speeds. And one day I felt the tranny kick soooo hard, it felt like someone had ran into the rear of my car.So, I took her to the dealer and they did the reflash or reprogram thingy. But the cars still feels the same, feels like there is something wrong with my tranny or the motor mounts.I have driven cars with tranny problems in the past and that's how my car feels like from time to time. Dealer told me its normal because its not throwing any codes........what should I do??? my 2006 M35 did not feel this way!!!!!

Thanks in advance

Bring it back to the dealer, roadtest with a tech, and duplicate your concern.

You should notice a difference after the TSB update, do you have the service receipt, and if so what does it say?

do u notice that this happens only occasionally??? do u notice that when the car jerks first the rpms shoot high then the gear catches up and jerks??? my 2010 did this and the dealer said the same thing your dealer said so i found a guy that was able to check the transmission fluid and it was in fact that the transmission fluid was both short a quart and contaminated and after it was changed the car drove like new-good luck

Have you checked why was it a quart low? Did it leak somewhere, and why was the fluid contaminated? If it was burnt with clutch material in it, something was seriously wrong, someone may have abused the hell out of it. A fluid refresh may only temporarily mask the problem.

Check for an Adam's Apple.

OP, the best thing you can do, as previously stated... take it back, road test with a tech, and do your best to duplicate the problem. We all know there's some crazy mojo that seems to temporarily fix cars when a tech is with you, but let's hope that's not the case this time.

My was from a stand still, I gradually accelerate but car wouldnt move, like it was not in gear...then bam!, the gear catch. It felt like what you described, like you got rear ended. This was couple of months ago and I havent had this happen again...knock on wood.

The TSB will help a little, but the 7AT is still very jerky and laggy. Moreso if you drive in heavy traffic a lot. Your 2006 M35 had the 5AT, which is much better, but worse in gas mileage.

Just another thing to add. It won't solve your problem, but could help eliviate some symptoms. Reset you ecu by taking off the negative battery terminal. The ecu is fairly smart and try's to conform to your driving. So if you just got the car it might be fighting your driving style. I would have thought that the reflash would do this too, but who knows. It's simple and worth a try.

Note: If you do try this, you will prolly have to reprogram your auto windows. It's very simple. Just have to hold down on the window switch for a few seconds each way (up and down).

From my understanding the 7AT is sealed with no dipstick. How would they know it is a quart low without a full drain and refill?

^^ Oil level can be checked via the filler hole, normally is right at the bottom of the hole, your finger can touch the oil. Say one quart low is just an educated guess, but certainly can be done.

Thats what this mechanic did- he figured the problem was with the transmission fluid based on what i told him and he drained it and he was right- it was contaminated with antifreeze and dont ask me how but i saw it for myself
