Anyone get a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft for a 7AT??
Im asking because the 6MT driveshafts have a u-joint at the differential flange, the 7AT has a rubber coupler, as seen in the pictures below.
My question to anyone that purchased a 1 piece.
Does the new shaft have a u-joint, or a rubber coupler??
Please only respond if you have a 7AT, and own a 1 piece aluminum shaft.
6MT owners, I already know, you have u-joints!!
This is a drive shaft from a 6MT
This is a drive shaft from a 7AT (mine) notice the big azz coupler!!!

From what I understand the aftermarket 7AT driveshafts delete the coupler because it is a huge weakpoint in the driveshaft since it is just a rubber dampener (I don't actually have an aftermarket shaft installed, just did some research into it)

I got a reply from GTM. It was pretty cryptic.
GTM:
Our driveshaft uses a steel coupler to connect the rear u-joint to the differential to eliminate the rubber coupler.
ME:
So you do add a u-joint to the rear of the shaft?
GTM:
Our one piece aluminum driveshaft has two u-joints: one in the front and one at the tail.

Not enough clarity. Trying to get as much info from them.
Your 6MT shaft ends with a 4 bolt u-joint yoke to a 4 bolt yoke on the diff.
7AT has a 3 bolt flange, no ujoint, to a 6 bolt rubber coupling to a 3 bolt diff yoke.
Makes no sense, if they install a u-joint, the the yoke would have to be a 3 bolt, which no one makes.
The 3 bolt yoke would have to be bolted to a 6 hole coupling, to the 3 bolt pinion yoke on the diff.
Or they would need to use a yoke flange with 3 bolts.
Yokes are not made by driveshaft customizers, they are bought, or transferred from the OEM shaft, as Z1 did.
Any shop worth their salt would use Spicer parts.
Looking through Spicer's catalog, they dont make 3 bolt yokes, nor yoke flanges. Its all 4 bolts.
So I requested more info, and a picture.

I was a bit disappointed as well when I found that the G37 had a rubber center bearing carrier like my old Supra had. The best thing I did was install that aluminum driveshaft as I could tell the difference the first time I got into boost LOL. When this setup on my G37 7AT goes that is when the aluminum driveshaft will be put in. Any word back from GTM? I have bought a few things from them as well.
