Need advice: replacing CSC - get new clutch too?

just found out today my csc is leaking. will be getting replaced under warranty next week.

i have 50000km (about 31000 miles) on the car. i was wondering if maybe i should replace the oem clutch with an aftermarket while they have the transmission out?

i don't track the car or drive it rough and i haven't had any issues with the oem clutch. i'm the second owner (bought it with 32000 km (about 20000 miles) on it). if i don't really need to replace it (i.e. the oem is of descent quality and will still last a long time) i'd rather keep the money in my pocket. but if i'm on borrowed time with it, i'll get an aftermarket now and save the extra labor down the road.

any thoughts?

If it was me, I would throw a new clutch disc and release bearing in. Basically everything but the pressure plate and flywheel. That's what I would do for piece of mind.

When I had the gearbox on my g35 replaced under warranty I was going to do just that, but the gearbox came with a new clutch included so I was all set at no cost.

If you had owned your car since new and know what you are doing with a 6mt manual then you shouldn't be worried. But since someone else did who knows what for 32k kms, I say go for those parts I mentioned. Even paying OE dealer prices you're only looking at a couple hundred bucks max. The disc and bearings, etc, are cheap. It's the flywheel and PP that get pricey. Those parts will probably be OK.

If you upgrade the clutch and flywheel make sure you upgrade to the HDCSC. The OEM CSC will continue to leak once you install a third party clutch and flywheel

thanks for the response guys. i'm considering the HD CSC even though a new one from infiniti wouldn't cost me anything. at least with the HD one i could rest easier knowing it (probably) won't give out again.

still undecided on the clutch...the dealership quoted me around $700 so i'm assuming they'd want to do the whole thing, not just the clutch plate (even though that's all i asked them to price out). i'd go after market for sure at that price.

anyone else want to weigh in with an opinion? like i said, i really don't want to spend the money for nothing, but if it's an investment that will save me in the long run then it's worth it.

30K miles is a tough call. I'd probably say bite the bullet and do it all. Go with the hd csc, stage 1 or 2 after market clutch, lighter flywheel, SS lines, and replace the MC.

You should easily be good for the life of the car after all that (or at least 100K if you don't abuse it).
