There's nothing illegal about changing an intake...or modding your car for that matter. as long as it passes emissions and doesn't break any disturbing the peace law...they can't do jack dik.

There's no risk in changing your intake....do it

I just purchased a 2008 coupe. The first change I made was to install two new K&N air filters. After reading this thread, I decided to check out the filter boxes. As mentioned, the boxes and filter's were still oily. This is after about 2000 miles. I dried off the filter's and the box and reinstalled the K&N's. I don't know if it can destroy the MAF sensor, but at least now they are not as oily. I'm considering replacing the MAF's with remanufactured unit's. 2008 Infiniti G37 Mass Air Flow Meter Parts from Buy Auto Parts

I'd keep the ones that I remove as backup's.

Just spoke with Infiniti about this issue. Their position is that the K&N's will eventually distroy the MAF's because of the higher air flow, not the oil. I have replaced my air filters with the OEM.
