Sprint Booster

So I have been debating on getting this since I saw it win a few awards at SEMA. So I broke down and got it and I will post the reviews of it after I install it. If anyone has any experience with this let me know.

So if I'm understanding correctly, this thing just boosts the signal so that the throttle goes more open for a given accelerator position?

Yup it just changes the throttle sensitivity of the gas pedal (kind of like turning on the sport button on the E46 M3). I had it on my E60 545i 6MT and it made driving it beyond awful. I took it off and never looked back. I've heard better reviews of it on automatic cars though.

I forget what it is called, but there's a similar product which allows you adjust the sensitivity via a remote/adapter.

IMHO its not worth getting since it render a certain amount (depend on the gain of the device) of the pedal travel useless. For example if the device has a gain of 2 at 10% pedal travel your car would think you did 20% and at 50% you car would think you are at 100% and anything above 50% your car would still think its at 100% travel. To me it would be much easier to adjust your driving style rather than throwing away your pedal travel. It will be X (gain) amount harder to control your throttle.

this product has nothing to do with pedal travel. what it does is get rid of the lag in the drive by wire system!

From my understanding of sprint boosters (like this one https://www.sprintboostersales.com/installation.cfm) all it does is amplifies the signal voltage from the throttle pedal. Your pedal does not have any "lag". At 0% travel it will outputs instantly ~0V and at 50% ~2.5V and 100% pedal travel it will instantly output 5V this is due to its electrical properties, most likely a resistor and a potentiometer is parallel at its simplest.

The only reduce lag I see is the throttle travel.
For example if it takes you 50ms to depress the throttle from 0% to 100% travel with a sprint booster with a gain of two it will only take you ~25ms since you will only need to go half way to achieve the same output. But again this is not without its draw backs anything over 50% throttle travel is still register as 100% throttle thus half of your throttle travel is useless.

I am thinking it is like Takman explained. It has 3 settings so if you don't like it you can turn it off. I just like the thought of adjusting the "performance" of the car. I will definitely be unbiased on the review. I don't expect extra power, just better response from the acceleration.

I don't know about the sprint booster but I know first hand experience to reduce the lag in 7AT cars I used a grounding kit while in ds mode I can guarantee you'll see a difference. I also curious to see the outcome of the sprint booster

Spring booster is for cheapos and a reflash is for men. Reflash will gain you hp and you can mess with the throttle positions..
