70K on SC'ed motor?
Just out of curiosity, for those of you with FI whether it be Stillen or GTM, how many miles are you anticipating to put on your current motors before...boom? Have a friend whose doing a very good job of talking me OUT of doing a Stillen Kit. He has a built 680 whp Z, built-stroked, the whole nine-yards. He's anticipating 25K out of his motor. 70K on a supercharged VQ37VHR motor? Any precautions you guys are taking? Swapping oil out every 2K seems to be suggestion, with 300V! Gotta pay to play I suppose...but I can't image only getting 70K out of my SC'ed motor...was hoping it would last me the life of the car (well...150K+). THoughts? THanks all!

From what I've heard,
1) GTM over stillen any day.
2) Its depends on the TUNE,
3) Driving habit.
4) Maintenance is key.
The thing about FI is that there is no one way to go and guarantee anything will or won't happen. If your going to go FI on a motor that was designed to be NA, always do your research. And know that you it can't be done cheap for the long run. Always keep it in the back of your mind, you could run into a big repair build. With that said the VQs are some for the most reliable engines in the world if taken care of properly.

Anything over stillen anyday. With all the r&d and development that has been done on the 37s, there's so many better options for SC. I personally have a TT set-up and as stated above, did research and didnt shortcut myself anywhere. Drove to a reliable tuner over 8 hours away to have the best tune possible for my personal car. Still boosting strong and the car sees full boost everytime I drive it.

Maintenance is one key in keeping a motor healthy, but the majority as mentioned before goes into the tuning. Don't cheap yourself out on the tune, you'll regret it.
I have seen people get 90k+ miles on their stock block and still running with a twin turbo setup (going to need a rebuild soon).

Agree with Staples, Tuning and maintenance are the biggest keys, I change my oil every 2500 miles, and watch my fluids pretty close, I also do not beat the crap out of my car when I drive it either. I kinda baby it, Just get on it every once and a while , So the driving habit is a key also, ,I have Stillen and am happy with it. Here we go

OP, just do ur research and read up on the FI section. It's in black and white. You'll see what the majority of the people think of Stillen, even Stillen owners themselves. Most Stillen owners have sold their kits to the newbie FI guys who didn't do their research or are on down-time becuz their cars don't run properly.

I have 88 000 KM on my GTM stage one SC car is still running strong. I have damaged one trans but it was before we could increase the shift pressures. after that was done the second trans has held up fine. I am looking at upgrading to the 1.5SC and getting a stage 4 build tranns soon. like in 4-6 weeks just got to see wht the wife has tosay about that. as for the SC i love it it is a DD for me and my wife. winter and summer this thing sees the road.
