Service Engine Soon Light?
Hey guys this might be a noob question, but it is the first time I have ever seen this light come on. Most people you can fix it by tightening the gas cap, but someone else told me that it may be the catalytic converter. I was just wondering if this would be covered under the TSB for the 2008 G37 exhaust problem? I don't think I have the "chainsaw" noise going on in my exhaust or else I am not noticing it. Give me some good news and save me a trip to the dealership please! Thanks for your help. Also I believe my warranty is out so will they still perform the fix or am I looking at some out of pocket costs?

Yes
Went to autozone, P0420: catalyst converter system efficiency below threshold - bank 1 Probable cause
- Large Vacuum Leak
-Rich AF ration - fuel system faulty
-Ignition system malfunction
-faulty catalytic converter.
They said it is probably the catalytic converter.
Hopefully

My guess would be your cats as well. Especially if you've ever bottomed out. I bottomed out during a snow storm last winter and the light came on about 100 to 200 miles later.
Fixed it by just getting Hi Flow Cats and New Exhaust System and tuning it...

TSBs are applied free as long as you're under warranty. Since you are out, and if they are nice they could do it on the house, otherwise you'll pay a pretty penny for OEM parts.
Since you're potentially looking at spending some money on parts and labor, do some research and go aftermarket for something better. I guarantee you that for the price the dealer will charge you for this job, you can get better cats, and at least a decent axle-back exhaust...

Good news guys they said it was my cats so they are covered under the emissions warranty so that has saved me for now! But I will most definitely keep the aftermarket parts in mind. Although I don't think I will start modding anytime soon. Until some $$ comes in at least. Thanks to everyone for all the help!

Just a tip. If its the catalyst converter and you warranty is out. Find out who the manufacture is. Because even thought your warranty is out the manufacturer may still be good and get it replaced with no out of pocket.
