oil consumption concern / considering a 2008 - 10 G37 S Coupe
how common is the excessive oil consumption issue?
what is considered excessive? > 1 quart / 1,000 miles?
are there any warning signs to look for when buying preowned?
what likely solutions does an owner have if it is still under warranty?
thanks in advance...

I have an 08 coupe and have minnimal lose if any. My last oil change the dipstick showed less than a quarter of a quart loss, very minnimal in my opinion. My car has 38,700 miles and I do track the car once or twice a month(drag) not auto x. I change the oil every 3500 miles, synthetic mobil one. A close friend of mine has a g35 and he loses oil regularly he says. aprx. a half quart every 1500 miles, and his car is ran like its stolen lol, and tracked alot! He has all the basic bolt ons.

I target 3500 miles between oil changes (never more than 4500) and use Mobil1 ..... no consumption issues. I have an '08 with 68k miles.

This engine is not known for oil consumption. Excessive is > 1 quart over 3000 miles. If you have oil consumption the dealership will require that it be tested (change oil, run for a full interval, check for consumption). Their solution if it's covered by powertrain warranty is to replace the engine.

my previous G35 had quite excessive oil consumption... a bit more than a quart every 3500 miles, but not the G37 . I just went on a 1000 mile road trip pushing the car quite hard on
the highway(and I mean quite hard did it in 12hours)and when I got back checked and oil and nothing lost...
Since it is still in warranty, just take it to the stealership and have it checked...
