D vs. DS vs. M
Sorry if this is a repeat, but I couldn't find the answer I wanted.
So coming from a 09 max, D mode was the quickiest. Can someone give me a breakdown of the xS. Drive modes?

D is for normal, most fuel effiencent driving. DS is for sport driving, M is manual, you shift the car, note this is not like manually shifting other cars. It will bounce off the rev limiter if you forget you are in the manual mode. It will not shift up untill you tell it to with either the gear shifter or the paddles if you have them. If you are in D mode you can manually shift the car then it will go back to D mode. If you are in DS and shift manually it will stay there till you move the shifter back to D.

ds and d mode will yield the same results in the 1/4-your hand will not be faster than the computer so if u want the best number dont waste your time in manual mode-trust me ive done about 100 runs if not more at the track with the g

This seems weird to me.
At WOT, my car shifts at redline in either D or DS. I think DS is only beneficial at throttle openings less than WOT.
I also don't see how DS would be slower at WOT than D... but maybe it's because the more aggressive logic accidentally lets the engine bounce off the rev limiter before shifting? I haven't had this happen personally, though. I'll stick with my story that they are meaningless comparisons at WOT.
M is definitely more tricky to get right than either automatic mode if you're just dragging. M is really meant for controlling your gearing in spirited canyon carving, not for fastest straight line acceleration. That's just not how it should be used.

Last time i read, DS was meant to keep you up in higher gears without the car shifting so early, giving you that "sporty" feel as if you're controlling your rpms.
If you floor it, D or DS, im pretty sure it does the same exact job. I doubt the computer would favor which to work faster for.
