NOOB transmision Help '2012 g37xs coupe
Hey guys I purchased my g37 at the beginning of January, has about 2100 miles on her. Awsome car, great looks, and powerful engine. Only issue is I have noticed is that the shift from 1st to 2nd gear is a bit rough(7AT). Mainly on cold start. If I go easy on it It reduces the severity but once it is warm it goes away. I also notice some flare when in traffic. Again from 1st to 2nd. I cant figure out what it is its like I have to baby the throttle from 1st to 2nd to get a smooth takeoff. Question I have is, is this normal? Will a tsb & or ecu reprogram fix this issue?

I have a 6mt but i heard this is fairly normal for the 7AT. As for the jerky shift when cold. most transmissions will do that becuase they are cold. The tranny will hold each gear longer in order to warm the engine faster. Then when it shifts it will jerk or lurch more then when everything is at optimal running temperture.

This is normal. Your car is still new and needs to break in. Give it some time. When I bought mine in 09, most of the shifts were pretty rough. However, by the time I got to about 5k miles on the car, everything smoothed over.
Some tips when drive the AT:
-Dont let off the gas when you are shifting, you dont have to. Although, I have heard from people that letting off ever so slightly before shifting leads to a smoother shift.
-Learn the RPM range that leads to the smoothest shift. For normal driving, 3k to 3.5k rpm seems to work well for me.

Well the reason why the choppyness happens when the engine is cold is exactly like it says because its cold. That's why most people will tell you not to go ball out when you first start the car because it's bad for the tranny.
As of for the throttle lag it's normal and there are some ground kits you can buy or make to make that a little better.

Grouding kit is a hit or miss. Heard they worked and heard they did nothing. Just stop driving the car cold.. Bad for engine and tranny. I always run mine for 8-10 mins before I go. Just me tho, I think.. :/
