On a drag strip? Redline it.

If you're racing, I say redline it and powershift.. If you go above redline no worries, the nanny will kick in and rev limiter will keep you from over revving.

I red lined my 7mt by accident the other day on the highway. Downshifted one too many by mistake and ya.....nanny kicked in and slapped my pee pee. Still made me nervous though.

Shift at peak torque or crossover point. Shifting at the redline can actually be slower due to the sharp drop in torque near the redline.

You mean HP. Torque drops off around 5.5K!! So is the TQ/HP crossover.
Above 5.5K is where mine pulls best!!

HP starts to drop off at 7K, but you still have momentum.

There will always be someone with a larger/smaller *****.

Take it to the track where there are some corners. That's where the fun really begins. Straight line racing is, straight line racing. Maximizing corner speed is much more challenging and exciting.

capitan...

before you start swinging that banhammer . . .

That was an honest question... maybe it's the way I typed it. As you can see from the replies above, some say to redline it while others say another thing.

only reason why im asking is because my friend has a mazdaspeed 3 with intake and a hypertech chip and he tells me that he has to shift at certain points so, and then i started questioning myself if i had to shift at any points, so that i wouldn't lose any power while racing. My friend wants to race me so bad he says he'll pull on me lol

by the way i have takeda long tube intake, test pipes and full exhaust.

What do you guys think will he take me???
