That doesn't sound right to me and sounds different from what I've heard and experienced personally.... Take it to the dealership....

Sounds like rocker arms are a little loud. Doesn't sound terrible though. What's it sound like when it's revved? Noise get louder or go away?

Either way, ya....take it to the shop. What's the worst they can say...there's nothing wrong with it?

Better safe than sorry.

i got the info on that solenoid straight from the FSM
"The EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is used to control the flow rate of fuel vapor from the EVAP canister. the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is moved by ON/OFF pulses from the ECM. the longer the ON pulse, the greater the amount of fuel vapor that will flow through the valve."

Dont' disagree that the solenoid exits or even how it functions: however the sound the OP posted is not a solenoid. That's either valvetrain noise or an exhaust leak.

I can't reproduce the noise when cold start, then rev to 3000 rpm a few times. The noise only happens after driving for a while.

That Is definitely not valvetrain related..if it was it would happen all the time or when the vehicle reached normal operating temp.

Actually valve train noise especially in a vvel motor most definitely CAN be intermittent and or temperature related.

I've heard the noise that vvel makes numerous times...and the issue the OP has in my opinion is neither vavletrain nor an exhaust leak ...I'm sticking to it being that solenoid pulsing on/off....

OK, guess I should get a service appointment and get that normal noise added to my G since it currently doesn't have any sign of that noise at any time under any circumstance- I want everything I'm supposed to have
