Yes. 5k while in park or neutral. 7.5k while in gear.

A properly done up exhaust and tune sounds great on a liter bike as it's flying by. Don't care much for the 600's though - too high pitch.

I imagine this 5K soft limit is also present in the manual version too. I can't imagine someone purposefully wanting to launch their car that rpm... Poor drive line.

^^ Nothing feels like a 5500 rpm clutch drop on a turbo AWD vehicle. Even the driveline agrees.

Btw this is news to me. I guess I've been mature enough to never free rev my engine for the past year.

Coop has a thread similar to this. There is a rev limit when the brakes are on, also. This makes burnouts for drag racing need a special mod.

I can spin my tires all the way from 1st into 3rd from a stand still in the auto with out a netral drop or holding the brakes, so why would reving your engine over 5k at a stand still have any advantage? Even in a standard to do a good launch you wouldn't want to be up a 5k. 5k while not under load in park or neutral is more than any fool should be able to rev to.

You shouldn't be using your brakes for this anyway, line locks are your friend.

I was just pointing out another thread, not claiming any drag racing experience.

You need better tires.

i have a 2008 G37S 6MT... my friend with a 370z was doing an exhaust sound comparision with me and noticed that I didn't have a rev limiter, while his cut off at 5k rpm. Was my year any different? I don't ever rev over 5k while neutral anyway, but i'm just wondering why my car didn't have a rev limiter?

Some of the early 08 6MTs didn't have the limiter originally. It has to be programmed that way via a reflash by the dealership.
