'09 XS, hitting rev limiter at WOT 1st-2nd intermittently

I've been noticing this for the past few months, but never thought much of it until recently:

when I'm at a stop, then go WOT (wide open throttle) - as it shifts into 2nd, it'll first rev to about 8000 rpm, hit the rev limiter once or twice, then shifts seemlessly there on 2nd to 3rd, etc.

however, if I gradually ease into 1st (in DS or manual mode) and then go WOT, it doesn't seem to do this as much.

Any thoughts -- I'll be taking in the car for new tires in a couple weeks -- something to bring up with them at that time -- can they adjust the shift points pretty easily?

Thanks for listening

Does your slip light come on as you bounce off the rev-limiter?

read a number of threads on this forum just now on a search -- apparently a problem in other people's cars -- some guy had his G's tranny replaced for this... unknown outcome as he hasn't posted since in that thread.

Yea, doesn't sound normal at all, haven't experienced this with WOT in any of the gears.

Taking it in for service on the 20th -- will see what they claim is wrong with it.. or not wrong with it... never did this before that I can remember anytime I went WOT .. but like you, I rarely go WOT from a stop.

I have had a couple tranny "reprograms" since I purchased it -- I wonder if that affected anything.

Dealership evaluated the issue -- actually got the car to do it a few times, but not consistently.

They said this was "normal, and nothing to be worried about."

Ok, no, it's not normal, an automatic tranny in full automatic mode should not bang off the rev limited at WOT. But I got it on record now that they said it's normal, and I have 30k left on my warranty, so i don't really care to fight it-- I rarely drive WOT anyway.

The car has a soft rev limiter at somewhere around 7600rpm and a hard rev limiter (fuel cut) at around 7800rpm (stock tune, it should be about 200rpm difference between the two). Are you saying you're hitting the fuel cut?

The tach is well into the early 8000's (8100 or so) when it hits the rev limiter -- and you tell me if it's cutting the fuel -- it's banging off the 8100 mark twice before shifting -- sure seems like it's a fuel cut off.
