Did you guys get them right away?
I got the tranny cooler (I have the 5AT) and exhaust with my original installation. The tranny cooler for the AT was recommended. I drove the car for about a year before getting the oil cooler. I never had any heat related issues during that time and just got the oil cooler as an extra bit of insurance and in case I ever wanted to spend any time at the track with the car.

This is more of a general question, but slightly applicable since I'm asking regarding the Stillen SC kit.

At what mileage do you decide to go SC? I'm closing in on 50k; is it too late? Is there anything I would do to "prep" the engine prior to handing it over to Stillen?

TIA

I just waited until my warranty was up. i don't think it is too late for you by any means and you should not have to do anything special.

Yeah, I was thinking that as well, but I purchased the 7 year/100k warranty

I'm also surprised that when going FI, people mix and match things and expect them to work as is. If you're going Stillen (or GTM), why wouldn't you just go front-to-back with one company, instead of piecing headers, exahust, and high-flow cats from a bunch of different companies.

I know with an experienced tuner, your can make anything work, but I'm just surprised when people by a "turn-key" kit and then piece a bunch of stuff together that hasn't been tested and assume it will just pull 500hp.

I never got that too. PPL would put all these different parts on their car from 3 or 4 different companies. I just stuck w/ one which is Fast Intention. Well, i am going to have to go to Stillen for Headers but that's about it.

Do you guys upgrade the valve body when getting the SC or is the trans cooler good enough?

There is no valve body for the 7-speed (it's all electronic) or anything else that can be replaced. The Stillen tuning does do a couple of things to the tranny, such as a higher line pressure. And yes a large cooler, the largest the better, is an absolute necessity. See the pic below from my profile of the front end, minus the nose, showing all the coolers and lines as well as the dual intake filters. Hope this helps!

Doing it over, I'd go for a much larger tranny cooler, as well as a temp gauge. You can see the tranny cooler here in the lower right. There is room for an even bigger one. And it should be plumbed in sequence with the stock cooler, if you still have it. If you care to take the entire front end apart, you can replace the stock radiator which would be a very very good idea. And put temp gauges on everything you can.

What about on the G35 HR motor? I am just trying to learn everything and to make sure everything is safe on the G.

That is incorrect informattion, GTM has a valve body upgrade for the 7AT. Check their site:

You don't have to have it. It should prolong the life of your tranny and give you better performance (quicker shifting due to the ability to hold higher line pressure). I ran my kit for a year before getting the transgo valve body upgrade installed and the guys at MAC Autosport who did the install said that the internals did not look like they had experienced excessive wear. The GTM upgrade is quite a bit more expensive than the valve body upgrade kit from transgo + installation for the 5AT but it may also include more than a simple valve body upgrade.

I believe that there is at least one member on here if not more that have this mod but I can't remember who they are. I may have originally seen it on the370z.com. You may be able to search around and find a review on here or on the370z.com

Oh, sorry, I thought that you were the one asking about a 7AT. If you have the 5 AT then you can get the Transgo valve body upgrade kit. Good luck with your build and post those numbers when you are done!
