How do you know when AWD is engaged?
Probably a dumb question, but is there a way to tell when AWD has been engaged?
We had some nice rain here in Chicago lately and I was eager to try out the car and see how she handled in the slippery condition. I tried numerous times, from a dead stop, to spin the tires. I floored it from red lights, while changing lanes etc.. and nothing.
Car drive like it was 65 and dry.
Does the car actually alert you when AWD is on or when traction control is activated?
I recall in my Grand Am, whenever I hit the gas when it was wet out the traction control light would come on.
Just curious.

You know, I've wondered the same thing. I never know when and if the AWD ever kicks in. Guess we'll find out soon once it starts snowing. As far as traction control, you'll sleep a flashing light once the car senses a slip...and according to Infiniti, that's when AWD should kick in too. But when does it disengage? Who knows...

Thanks. I was amazed at how I was able to drive through the rain without any slip or anything. Seriously it was like it was bone dry out there the way the car handled.
Pretty impressive so far. I dont think i'll be as reckless when it snows though.

The loaner '11 G37x sedan I had was slipping (understeer + wheelspin) around a couple round abouts in the rain in ~40F weather. Maybe I was abusing it a bit too much ![Smilie](https://www.myg37.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
In straight lines I couldn't hear it break loose but I do recall seeing the Slip light a few times. I chalk it up to stock tires, cold and wet.

When you plowing through snow like a beast. But on a serious note..Nothing alerts you, it is pretty obvious. It is suppose to be in RWD in dry conditions but I doubt its 100% RWD even at those times...
