Automatic transmission downshifting abruptly

Hi all I have a 2011 G37xS coupe with 7 speed auto and I've noticed that when coming to a stop (from what I think happens between 3rd and 2nd gears) I sometimes feel a slight jerk. Wondering if anyone else experienced this. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Although being new, you must attempt to search. A search of the term "downshift" brought this right up. This affects the 7AT across the coupe, sedan and vert.

I noticed this too and it's basically the way the AT works. Once you drop below 20 you'll feel your car lose all momentum and almost seem to stop itself - this is the downshifting you're experincing.

I also noticed some slight hesitation when trying to rapidly accelerate from this downshifting. I read that this is how a sports transmission works.

I've had the TSB for re-program applied and STILL find the down-shift abrupt, annoying and harsh. Maybe another TSB needed ?

This is normal and you have nothing to worry about. Even the 5AT's have the same slight jerk at times. I've driven both 5's and 7's and they all have it. It's part of how the G37 sort of engine brakes itself when you let off the throttle. The jerk is a slight side effect, as I've been told.

The best way to search this forum is via Google. This site's search is very broad and sometimes can make it difficult to find results. In the Google search bar, type "MyG37 ..." and then finish with what you're searching for. It'll bring up results straight on the issue rather than results that mention just keywords. Try it--it always works for me.

Why search when the Op got the answer he was looking for without searching through all sorts of wrong answers from irrelevant matches...
