@adroitcaptor, you articulated the concept of shoes and clutch feel very well in your post.

I normally drive in sneakers/gym shoes. If I go to dress shoes, positioning changes, and the muscle memory is corrupt. I have to relearn the 'feel' to get good smooth clutch operation. When I had the camaro, driving in boots was near impossible. The sole was so thick, and lacking flexibility, there was practically no feedback. Some say i'm too ****/OCD about the whole thing, but when you break it down, good clutch action is a function of good clutch feel.

On the motorcycle, after years of riding with gloves, I find it very difficult to ride without. The muscle memory works the same way here. Even more so because your fingers have many more nerve receptors than your feet

I think most would be surprised at how much difference they could realize if they re-learned how to operate a clutch [IMO] properly.
Please expand on this. What do you mean by properly?

Do you guys press the clutch all the way down/far down or do you press it until the point where you can shift it into gear? The manual says to press it all the way down in order to avoid damage to the tranny.

To avoid tranny damage, you have to ensure that the clutch is full disengauged. The manual can't say that you just have to know and learn to feel it, so they are in error on the side of safety. It's them doing a little CYA.

lol funny thread. same here -- i'm OKAY with slippers, but i can't seem to drive as aggressively and "directly" as I can with a pair of tennis shoes (specifically, flat bottom adidas shoes -- can't seem to do so with other pairs of shoes...weird, i know) lol

Disengaged meaning you can slip it into gear? Or something else? How would you know otherwise?

I think my favorite shoes to drive in are nike free runs. Honestly though since I learned in a beat up pair of vans I had to really base it off of feeling the catch point instead of the muscle memory aspect so when I wear other shoes it's a mix of feeling it and knowing it. I'm horrible at driving in Jordans though.
