g37 7sp shifting past redline

I have looked all over and i have found one post on this, but it was with a g35. I have a 2009 g37x with a 7sp auto. When I put it into the "DS" mode and floor it from a stop, the car chirps the rear tires and the tach shows around 7800 rpm (well into redline). I thought that there was a rev-limiter on these cars? I never felt it hit. Is my tranny all funked up or is my tach messed up? anyone else have this on their cars?

I have watched many 0-60 videos on the net, and i have never see other g37s do this. any help would be appreciated. Thanks?

PS, my car is completely stock

Pretty sure 7800 is very top of the rev range. If u went past that u would immediatly feel the fuel cut off. Ive reved it past 7800 a few times in 1st in the heat of the moment in manal mode and the fuel cut off. 1st is very steep btw.

We do have a rev limiter. I don't remember exactly where it's set, but it will kick in when it needs to. 7800 is about all you're going to get out of our engine, if you stay stock.

mine revs to 8400 when I floor it... lol you're fine... ha ha

but yeah we have a 7800 red line (power band plateaus)... there's no rev-limiter while you're in drive, but there is one when you're in park or neutral. (4500rpm)

so there is no rev-limiter when your driving? How are you guys revving that high? Does anyone else show their tach revving past the redline, in stock form?

Yes, there is a rev limiter in drive, theoretically its around 7500 RPMs.

Mine cuts at 7600.

Neutral has a a lower rev limiter like 4 to 5K.

As long as the plateau is flat from 7200 to whatever the cutoff is, you stay on the plateau longer by increasing the cutoff. I don't know if the plateau is actually flat or not with a reflash, but that would be one reason why.
