Update.... The shop got a late start on the install. Ran into a snag as well . It's not a direct drop in. Cars that have a vlsd need to have one of the stub axels shortened by 1.7 inches. You would think quaife would have instructions on this. They do not . We had to search the Internet to find that info. Other than that everything else is fine. Car won't be on the road until Tuesday due to the delay and holiday. Will let u peeps know more next week..
They should have told you about that. When I was talking to z1 about this diff they asked if I had a factory LSD just for this reason. Its a $150-200 from them Iirc.
Did you have to do shimming when you reinstalled? I am fairly new to this area of upgrades and dont know much about the rear diff. I know I don thave the VLSD and the install looks easy but i keep hearing about shimming but no one shows or talks about it.
No two vehicles are built the same and no two LSD's are built the same and no two ring and pinions are built the same. I got lucky and my car shimmed up perfectly the first time with the 4.08s and factory LSD. Your's might have to be shimmed multiple times to get the proper gear mesh. It's best to let somebody who is familiar with rear ends set them up as it can be quite tedious and time consuming.
