TWM Performance Short Shifter with ****
Hey Everyone,
So I got my sway bars and TWM short shifter in with the new "Big R" ****. I think it turned out pretty sweet. Both mods make the car feel awesome!! Here are some pics for you to enjoy.

You do have to access the bottom of the car to pull pack the boot covering the shift linkage. There is a bolt underneath that needs to be removed to pull out the factory shaft. I installed the Stillen short-throw in mine, but the install will be the same either way. OP, how did you pull the **** off? I almost busted a nut taking it off by hand, but was able to do it.

Yah, all I did was jack up the front end, put it on jack stands, and crawled underneath. There was enough room to do it that way.

How much shorter does the TWM shifter really feel? It's not too difficult to shift is it?
Also when I was getting my gauge cover replaced because of the peeling, I just snuck the question in there, "What would it cost to get my shift **** removed?" and they said they'd look into it. Came back about 10 minutes later and told me they'd do it free. When I went out to the car, the TWM **** I had sitting in the back seat was installed without even asking.

Most of the questions have already been answered.
-Yes you have to get under the car to remove one bolt and then put it back in after replacing the new shifter. This is most easily done with the clutch in 5th. The shift linkage is located just infront of where your exhaust pipes come together after the cats.
-Shifts feel noticeably shorter and more crisp. Also that wicked vibration is reduced with this shifter!! It is not hard to shift. The **** i got is very heavy and I like the feel of it when throwing through gears.
- I tried to be all ginger and gentle when getting this original **** off with a rag and all. Then I said the heck with it. I placed a rag then a big vise grip and just started twisting. Off it came after a few turns. Torn to crap but off!

For anyone planning this install....do not tighten the reverse lockout plate overly tight you will not be able to get into reverse and most likely will not notice until the whole console is back in!! I had my wife and two kids loaded up in the car running late to the babysitters house and then a movie when i realized...oh crap i can't get into reverse. I decided to go with it, rolled out of the driveway and just tried to stay on inclines. Until... guess what I pick that day of all days to get lost in a neighborhood backstreet that winds up in a dead end and oh yes you guessed it...headed downhill. I had to push the car back up hill to avoid a car on the side of the road and give myself enough room to go forward again.... Not an ideal situation but definitely a memory my wife will never let me live down. Took the console off the next morning, loosened the lockout plate bolts ever so slightly and the shifter slipped right in to reverse no problems..... oh the joys of DIY!!!

So glad you posted this! Was thinking of doing the exact same mod but with the regular R ****. But now that I actually see the big R on a G, it looks really good. I would actually prefer the heavy ****. The stock ones just feel too light for me.
On a side note. Navy Doc huh? What do you do if you don't mind me asking?
