What oil is everyone using?

I'm with you there. I have always used the dealer for my oil changes. If there are ever any warranty issues I know there can't be any questions asked. Having the car in for dealer oil changes also gives me the peace of mind that the car has been inspected by knowledgeable mechanics familiar with my car.
This has been my pattern for all my vehicles, at least while under warranty. Post-warranty oil changes are usually performed by me (with dealer recommended oil), or the dealer if the price is right. I have owned many new cars over the years and usually keep each vehicle for 6-8 years. I'm religious about my oil change frequencies and I have never had an oil related engine problem.
I love reading the oil debates. Unless you are really running your car extremely hard or hitting the track frequently, dealer recommended oil is quite sufficient. I understand the synthetics are suppose to provide slightly better fuel economy, but are there really any savings in the end? I'm convinced many are over-analyzing this oil issue, but if it makes you feel better to go with the "good stuff", it certainly won't do any harm.

In a hotter climate I would think it's okay, but I would run 5W-30 if you're starting the engine in colder climates... like under 45 fahrenheit or so. It's 100+ here in Dallas, I could probably get away with straight 40W this time of year!

My dealer was charging a ton and using QS 5W30 mineral oil. I wanted higher quality oil and a 5,000 mile change interval...now using Mobile One. That said, its a lease and even if I buy at the end of the lease, I probably won't keep the car more than four or five years and 50 or 60,000 miles. Shouldn't have much of a problem regardless of what I use.
