what mph range should i be in?
im trying to use ds mode in my car more often these days but im lost on what gear i should be in for my speed range. afraid ill damage the engine/transmission faster if i dont do it right. anyone have a reference for what mph i should be in for each gear? looked at the car manual but im not sure if the reference there is for ds mode or for cars with manual transmission.

Drive it in auto. Listen and feel for when the gears change. Take note of where your tach/speedometer is at each upshift. Shift it over to DS. Mimic.
Or shift every ~10-15 mph.
Or just wait until it sounds like your engine is about to explode. Then for sure you should be able to tell when to shift eh?

Dude it's an automatic. There's no science behind driving one on manual mode.
But since you seem totally clueless about driving an automatic of all things, here's a quick guide:
Normal driving shift at around 2500-3000 rpm's for good fuel economy. For some power rev it up to 5500 or so. For maximum power redline the thing.

i think our car has max hp at a really high rpm (idk why, but 7200 is coming to mind) so im thinking the longer you stay around there, the best power you'll get. shift at low rpms for good gas mileage.
for ds mode, just use common sense. i think the car wont let you drop it too low if youre good fast. like if youre going 40mph it wont let you drop it to first. so that alone is a protector for your engine. just gauge it yourself, it wont do you much good putting it down to second at 50mph if your rpms are at redline. if you put it into drive sport it normally will down shift you till youre around 3-4k rpms which is where you want to be.

Well, I'd say that there's no use driving the car in DS unless you're planning to redline the thing or give it some hard acceleration. That's the entire purpose of DS, really: To downshift/upshift when you want to give it a good run. DS also makes your car work at slightly elevated RPMs even in the same gear than you'd normally be in, so it's useless for regular driving, if that's what you're referring to. If you want to drive it like a manual, it won't work; you'd need a manual for that.
