DS mode & Highway driving
I normally only use DS mode in the city was wondering if any of you keep it in DS mode for highway travel 70 mph > is this possible or advisable?

On the highway..when I drove in DS mode and put it in 7th gear I got better gas mileage. I don't think it's a problem. Whatever gear you are in will determine your MPG and stress felt by the engine.

doesnt matter when you use it, but i know on the 5AT it stays in 4th most the time so the gas mileage will be a bit worse. i have found that if you manual shift it to the highest gear and keep it there MPGs are better since the engine isnt always searching for gears.

I guess it depends what kind of highways you're driving, if it's just a steady cruise I'd definitely just use D, you should get better mpgs. If you've got a lot of stop & go or a load of dummies driving slow in the left lane then I'd use DS just to get around them quicker. I think once you hit 75 in either D or DS it should be in 7th gear so the difference should be minimal.

I know that feeling it's hard to use cruise down here even on the Expressway these Morons down here drive 56 mph in the left lane and actually hit their brakes on the Expressway WTF! Ever heard of lifting your foot off the accelerator. These idiots down here think you have to have at least one foot depressed on a pedal at all times. What a bunch of Jerk-Offs.

I don't like DS on the HWY. Too many times when you are braking for traffic it downshift too frequently for my taste. If you are going to be some spirited driving on a empty HWY, a country road or a track, I'm sure the DS will work fine. Because the downshifts will be appropriate.
On the HWY I used M about 90% of the time, the rest of time D is sufficient for my needs. In fact I use M for almost all roads except when I'm running errands around town, D.
