Review 4.083 FD Rack and Pinion Gear

4.083 FD Ring and Pinion Gear
Finally took the time to swap pumpkins. 4.083 FD gear came from a '07 HR Z. The process was actually much simpler than I had initially expected. Couple bolts off the axles (10), drive-shaft (4), and one vac line later, the new pumpkin was in. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to open her up much, but will in the morning on the way down to campus . By the way, the pumpkin's pretty freaking heavy! Caught me a little off guard .
So now, we all KNOW that the rear pumpkin off a 2007 HR Z will indeed bolt DIRECTLY up onto our 37's. The only problem we had were the sensors. Fortunately for us, we were able to retain the individual harnesses per each car (Z's merges, while ours splits off into 2 individual lines). The ABS sensors came right off each pumpkin.
4.083 Rack and Pinion OE (Nissan Pathfinder - forged thicker for towing). Shimmed, upgraded seals and bearing. Chatter free!!!

65 was ~ 3,000 versus the originally 2,600/2,700 RPM. Not a huge difference. The jump in RPM bothered me a little bit. I'm over it now. lol
The one WOT chance I got was from 3rd onto an on ramp. Didn't check to see what the RPM was @, at 80. Will check for you in the morning Doggy!

Doggy, I lied. Looks like 70 MPH's at ~3100 revolutions. 80 MPH was at a whopping ~3500 revolutions. eek!
Honestly...I can't tell at this point. Will have to track to see a difference in trap speed. I totally hyped the concept up in my head. Someone claimed the FD gear swap as being equivalent to a ~50 whp gain! How naive of me to let it get to my head. lol
That'd be awesome if you could! I guess...nothing's impossible. I wonder what you would have to do to actually do a FD rack and pinion swap on an AWD? There's only 1 differential right?
Will do! Once I let my car settle down some. Let my buddy take the driver's seat yesterday before we did the swap. My poor, brand new all-season tires (who ever knew the car could whip the tail out so easily? lol)
He's a darn good driver. Wish I could double clutch like him. Freaked out when he double clutched into first initially...but, meh... lol
