What is up with the 6MT Sounds?

I have had my 6MT for almost 3 years now and still to this day can't figure out the sounds emitting from the shift linkeage. It sound like someone shaking nuts and bolts in a tin can. I notice it especially shifting from 1st to 2nd. Do other 6MT owners get this rather unpleasant sound when they shift? For the life of me in college I had a 5 speed Honda Civic that never sounded like this Infiniti does. Amazing really.

Thank You for posting this and to all the others that post threads (lots of them) complaining about the 6mt, it makes me even more happy that I went with the paddle shifters (automatic)

I can hear some faint sounds when the top is down in the garage when idleing. If I push the clutch in it stops. I had a previous generation Z that made the same sound so I haven't been worried about it.

The 6MT's in these cars are simply just noisy, but they are stout transmissions...

All these noises fall under "Clutch Chatter"; the G37 lacks in the NVH department.

OP was talking about the noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd.. Not while idling.

LOL at this guy ^^^^

He's just another guy who either:

A- doesn't know how to drive a stick shift car, or
B- has stick shift envy

Either way, have another tall glass of Hater-Ade.

The OP was talking about noise from his shift linkage, not the clutch. So clutch chatter has absolutely nothing to do with it.

^ yeah, that's probably a good explanation. NVH suppresion may be poor, but they are very durable.
