FUEL RECOMMENDATION
VQ25HR/VQ37VHR engine
Use unleaded premium gasoline with an octane
rating of at least 91 AKI (Anti-Knock Index)
number (Research octane number 96).
If premium gasoline is not available, unleaded
regular gasoline with an octane rating of 87 AKI
number (Research octane number 91) may be
temporarily used, but only under the following
precautions:
● Have the fuel tank filled only partially with
unleaded regular gasoline, and fill up with
unleaded premium gasoline as soon as possible.
● Avoid full throttle driving and abrupt acceleration.
However, for maximum vehicle performance, the
use of unleaded premium gasoline is recommended

I don't think you should use anything but 91 or higher octane fuel. These engines have 11 to 1 compression which is high. You will ruin your engine, plus get worse gas mileage by not using premium. That article is for people that own average cars with lower compression engines.

^^^ I agree and besides... I didn't get a G to have great gas mileage. I got it for the thrill... just my 2 cents. Good article though.

What’s going on with this forum? We keep having this same discussion on premium versus regular gas over and over again. There must be at least a thousand posts on the subject. Can’t we give it a rest for a while?

Let’s cycle in some of the other regulars, like auto vs. manual, coupe vs. sedan, or nav vs. non-nav. There hasn't been one of those lately.

Gas prices going through the roof probably had something to do with it.

I'm with Chekov. Where are all of the which intake is best, should I buy Vossen CVx, what size rear tires can I run without rubbing, which coilovers are best threads when you need them?

Premium unleaded G37 drivers can't be processed with a normal brain. We're tired of pretending our cars aren't special. They are totally bitchin' rock stars from mars. We never lose races at the track because defeat is not an option - they've picked a fight with a warlock. Duh! WINNING!!!

87 feels like it inishes quicker, not too much of a price difference so 91 should do.

the whole reason for this post was to inform people that if you happen to put regular gas in your car its ok so we dont have a million more threads about it!!!
OPPS i just put regular gas in is my car ok!!!

i guess you didnt bother to read the articel Maxpilot...it talkes about cars that should run 91 but are using 87 with no problems..

Burning regular when the owner's manual specifies premium won't void the warranty, nor damage the engine, even the most finicky automakers say. "You're giving up perhaps just a little bit of performance that a customer wouldn't really even notice

The main advantage of premium-grade gas is that it allows automakers to advertise a few more horsepower by designing and tuning engines to take advantage of premium's anti-knock properties. But auto engineers generally agree that if you use regular in a premium engine, the power loss is so slight, most drivers can't tell

if your tired of seeing these threads dont respond its that simple..
im just trying to post usefull information to the few that have questions or answers if they put the wrong gas in its not going to ruin the engine!!!

The USA uses the R+M/2 method to determine octane rating. Our rating is lower because of it. In Europe, our 87 would be 91+.

I use premium because the manual says 91 octane. My old G35 said 87 and that's what she got. Never had an issue.

I ain't gonna buy a $40,000 car and then gripe about $200 a year.

But everything you said in your above post has been said a hundred times before. So what’s your point?
