Driving my car back home with the TSB, better than before but far short of the 2012. This suggests aside from programming changes, there were likely hardware changes in the 2012 absent in older models. Will give it some more run time, but bottom line, while this TSB is an improvement, the software alone does not account for the initial 7AT design flaws.
Its been asked and answered (by a few people here that I consider very good sources) that the 2012 7AT is no different than the previous years, hardware-wise.

Here is the first page of the ITB12-027. All you have to do is describe the conditions listed and they should perform the update.

First when I came to a red light, right before I can come to a complete stop, the light turned green, I let go of the brake and pressed gas and that's where I felt about a 1-1.5 second of lag and then the car took off like a rocket.
Another time in the same street when I was making a right turn, I was coming to a slower speed from 45mph to about 10mph and made the turn whiling going 10mph and then I pressed the gas and felt the lag yet again. Both occasions in less than 15 minutes. I'll drive a little more and see if it happens again or just one time mistake.
Last night I was on a lone stretch of road so I tried for about 5 minutes to reproduce this. Tried rolling stops, hard stops, etc. Was not able to reproduce the lag. There may be some additional variables (perhaps, temperature? 1BadAssG -> was it cold, by any chance?)

What year/build date is your car?

I have not experienced any lag or delay at all with the new program. I purposely tried all different speeds, because I thought maybe they had moved the shift point. On my car at least - so far all issues seem to be gone. Previously I experienced problems with it every day, so I would definitely notice.

"Far short from the 2012"? Really? I have to disagree, in MY experience anyway. I drove a 2012 right before I picked up my reprogrammed G and it seemed to behave the same as my car does now. I'd say it's the same program. Hardware is the same, as has been said before. There's no reason to maintain a separate version of the "best code", right? It just makes everyone's job harder. 09 and 10 were brought up to 11 behavior in June 11. 10 and 11 seem to be up to same code as 12 (in MY experience anyway, and I am very very picky and sensitive to transmission behaviors).

1BadAssG - From the symptoms you describe, it almost sounds like they didn't actually program your car. ??? Sorry to hear you're not happy with it. Any chance the traction control or stability control kicked in maybe? Can you reproduce it over and over again? I could make my '11 do it ten times in a row, now it never does it.

Is this worth going to the dealer for?

I originally planned to do the update next time I go in for an oil change. After reading all these positive feedback on this thread, I could not resist myself anymore. I just came back from the dealer and they performed the latest update on my 2010.

On my way home, I noticed I'm driving a different car. The rpm needle seems to respond quickly to my gas paddle input. I finally feel like driving a sporty sedan.

Wait a minute! I felt similar after the last update (ITB10-075) 1.5 year ago. But then the 7AT adaptive learning took over and then I experience lag once a while.

Hopefully this new update fixed it for good. I'll test it in NYC traffic and see.

ITB10-075 didn't feel like this update, IMO. When I got the first update last year, it felt like the car was mellow down. I think it only fixed the harsh shifts. The lag and jerky gear hunting was still there.

Here in Vegas cold? Haha I wish but no it's usually in the high to mid 80 degrees for the past month.
When it's cold, the car performs exceptionally well. I drove a little more yesterday and today but so far haven't seen the lag again yet. Maybe the ecu is learning my driving habits and is adjusting accordingly.

I didn't mean how the car felt like, I was expressing my similar excited feeling of driving a different car before/after. Sorry for the confusion.

Just put in the Year & the model, the bottom 2 boxes just leave blank, this will show all the TSBs starting w/ the newest first. the current reflash still isn't here for us sad 09ers. the TSB you found was the earlier one. I'd just leave your car as is for the near future & hopefully we'll get the "real" update soon.

Ok...I'll cancel my appointment, Im not driving 45minutes there and back for a small change that doesn't fix the problem completely. To be honest from what i have read on here it seems like everyone here the downshifting seems like a real problem. Ive had my xS for 2 weeks and have only noticed it 3 or 4 times. I DD 4 times a week sometimes getting the car up to 75MPH.

Its not too big of a deal i notice the lag in acceleration more.

Thanks.

@burtonsnowbds: If you have the original '09 program it is likely you do not have the huge lag going from 4-to-3. They had a problem with a ROUGH 4-to-3 downshift originally. They replaced it with a lagging 4-to-3 downshift (at 20-25 mph) when they did the last reprogram. 4-to-3 has been an issue from start. You may indeed not need to touch it, if you do not mind the harshness of the original 09 program. Most people do mind it, I think. But compared to the lag problem they created later, it might be the better of two evils. I would not bring in an '09 until the NEW program is ready. No sense getting the 2011 program which has the lag in it.

Question to those with the latest update. When you do spirited drives or passing, do you mash the pedal or gradually press it? I notice on my 09 with old update, if I mash the pedal, I sometimes get the lag but gradual pressing of pedal, acceleration is exponential. When this happens what a rush!! (Albeit I have hypertech, switched to synthetic oil & k&n filter)
