Hey guys,

Just bought a 2011 G37x and have been having accel issues. It only has 500 miles, but it does seem sluggish compared to the loaner/test drive I had. Im not sure if this is a break in period issue, or its a real problem. If its the latter, Im gonna be upset because I love the car otherwise. Thanks for the help.

Some G owners regretted having the transmission re-programmed, while some like myself are very happy having it done. It's your call.

So I guess were assuming mine had the flash done? Im not sure when it was built but I took delivery on Feb 3rd. If this is how its supposed to be after the "fix" I shudder to think what it felt like before.

This was also never mentioned on any research I could find when I was doing due diligence on my next purchase. Consumer reports and others hadnt mentioned anything like this.

it's the break in period. you shouldn't be opening up (moderately, but not extreme WOT) until 1200 miles. i had the same concern. my windshield cracked within the first week of having the car + flywheel was seated incorrectly from the factory. thus, i was in a loaner for a good week on two separate occasions. give your car some time to break in - she'll feel stronger...no worries!

Based on your description, I doubt your new G had the re-flash done.

After your break in period (after 1200 miles), try to drive your car more aggressively. Try it for say 1000 miles and see if things improve. If not, you might consider re-flash with TSB #ITB10-075.

I have been generally taking it easy (its very hard to control myself ), but just once and a while on the highway Ill accelerate and it seems to be a bit slow responding. But Ill definitely take your advice and wait to put some miles on it before getting too concerned. Anyway, the car is such a looker. I love it (black on black).

Thanks for the advice guys. Appreciate it.

Fish: Is your improvement and delight in the Reflash in both modes: D and DS? My results so far, after Reflashing the ECU and clocked over 1200 miles is a better drive in D mode, but DS mode was affected with almost neglegible difference other than rev matching when the vehicles slows down, still hesitant at certain times - hard to pinpoint exact RPM settings when it does occur, but quite annoying and disappointing. I drove our company 2010 Ford Fusion SE today for buisness, that has a 6 speed AT 4 cyclinder engine (2.5 Mazda engine), and there's a slight hesitation but nothing like my G - same with our 2010 Honda CRV. It;s the freakin 7 speeds and the slow to react Torque Converter.

Viper - I gues by "slow to react' you mean: hesitation. That does Not go awya or get better.

Would people here recommend the ECU flash before investing in a HyperTech tuner, or is the flash kind of moot since HyperTech will just replace it with its own anyway?

I don't know how it feels in DS mode as I never had the need to drive in DS since the re-flash .

I will try it and post another update here sometimes in the near future.

You still get a few more bonuses with the HT... speed/rev limiter adjustment, the hp/tq tune, and removal of the 0-60 throttle restriction. If you weren't going UpRev, I would definitely recommend the HT.

Two reasons I'd suggest to get the Trans flash first if you are in the group that would prefer it. One the update also flashes the TCM according to another user (I haven't read the TSB) and two if you ever uninstall the Hypertech you'd want your base ECU programming to be compatible with the TCM flash.

wait viper57 did you own a viper? if so no wonder you have acceleration issues.

i had no acceleration issues when i got mine early 2010. the acceleration seemed extreme to me but i was coming from a 2000 accord v6. during breakin i did avoid hard acceleration and I tried to keep it below 4500 rpm. right after i picked it up new though i had to do a demonstration

Idk about you guys but I like when there's engine breaking on tiptronic mode, I can't stand always slamming on the breaks

Thanks for the replies. Scheduled a drive with a service tech Monday to see if I can point out the points where it happens, and hopefully getting the ECU flashed. Then ordering HT

I believe its in the break-in period as well. Try avoid going over 4000rpm for the first 2000km (1200mil). For mine, (no reflash yet) even the gas comsumption had big improvement gradually after. Right now I am at 6000km and its going well.

I have scheduled a transmission reflash next thursday, hopefully I will like it, cause all I want is smoother ride and better gas consumption! I don't race people all the time.
