4.08 Gears + Quafie LSD Installed :)

Hey guys, I now have my 4.08 gears installed and I am beginning to write my review. I still have not tested the LSD capabilities yet but will do so in a few days. As for the Final Drive Upgrade from 3.3 to 4.08 all I can say is WOW...

From a dead stop the car is now beastly, the car feels like it is on steroids. If I go WOT from a stop the back end gives out a bit and I have to admit it is a bit fun. Also whenever I shift I am still in power band and the car pulls like never before. I can't tell you guys enough how much this mod helps compared to all my other mods (Instake,Exhaust, HFC ect).

Cons:

-Price!!!!!!!: Ring and Pinion $535, Quafie LSD + installation 1+2 $1670, Labor $450 = $2655. The installation kits could have probably been avoided and that would have saved about $300.

-Maybe to much power? The back end gives out quite easily and I am wondering how much more it would give out if I was on a Stock LSD.

-At 73+ MPH the car is at 3k RPM so it might be a little noisy and annoying. But I don't mind it.

Pros:

-A lot of power!!! and the car feels like it has much more torque. Don't buy that exhaust and buy this instead

-Pulls a lot harder all through gears and the car is always in power band.

HERE IS THE MAX MPH IN EACH GEAR (I have only tested up to 4).

1st Gear - 30 MPH

2nd Gear - 45 MPH

3rd Gear - 60 MPH

4th Gear - 100 MPH

Honestly for everyone stating that you would lose on your top end max MPH, I have a question exactly how fast do you want to go or need to go? Assuming we go with an increment of 15 mph for 5th 6th and 7th we are talking about an easy 145 MPH.

The best part is that my Cruise Control still works and I am an 7AT .

Fantastic! Do a full review with more info when you can. Problems, observations, where you bought the parts, prices for parts and labor etc. It's great to know that your cruise control is working, I think that's a surprise to most including to me.

I really have to get off of my butt and get this mod done.

First review so forgive me for being bad at it lol. I am adding pros and Cons as well as observations as I go.

What did you do to correct your speedometer? You're probably off 5 mph at 70. It may say 70, but your probably really at 63-65mph.

I have read that my speedometer wont be off because the speed is taken outside the differential but I will try to double check. Anyone know a better way to check speedometer accuracy other than having another guy drive next to you at the desired speed?

I'm more interested in the LSD. 7At already has aggressive gearing and I like my mpg. But I bet now your in performance mode in all gears.

Can you feel a difference in DS mode as well?

Use a portable navigation unit that has a MPH display, very accurate from my past observations...

This is an awesome mod for those of you who want to make your car faster and never plan on going FI. With FI and this mod, you'd probably need slicks to hook up in first.

Silly question. Would the X need two of the 4.08s?
