If it is a trans issue, you're likely out of power train warranty depending on in service date (6yr/70K mile).
Elaborate some more on this, "Also the rattling gets louder when I come to a stop after driving but eventually gets back to "normal".
It would be prudent to have the shop undo the top plug first and take a reading of the fluid level (best they can). Proper level is fluid even with the plug threads when the car is level. If significantly low, that might be affecting some of the noise you're hearing.

The rattling I'm referring too I assume is the common throw out bearing noise, when the clutch is disengaged in neutral I can hear it, engage the clutch and it goes away. But sometimes after driving the car and I come to a stop in neutral with the clutch disengaged, the rattling noise is significantly louder.. It's very hard to explain the noise but there's a YouTube video somewhere on this forum that represents the noise perfectly.
Also do all infiniti's have a power train warranty? If it's 70k I literally just hit 70'000 miles a week ago and I' am pissed I didn't know about it..
Anyway, the transmission is noticeably whining quite loudly in 1st. I've seen many posts where people have gotten new transmissions for a whining tranny and rattling throw out bearing, so I'm just nervous that something catastrophic will go wrong in the tranny in the future. I drive my cars harder than most people.
First things first though I'll get the fluid changed as soon as I can. Thanks JSolo.
