Oil Cooler, any point?
So im the kind of guy who gets sucked into a sale. Stillen is gonna have a black friday deal on their oil cooler. So i was wonder if anyone things its useful at all to have? I am not turbocharged or supercharged. I also live in a winter climate (if that makes any difference at all). So is there really any benefit for dropping 3-400 on one of these bad boys? Thanks!

As far as i know our cars run a bit hotter then most. But i assume not so hot i would need a oil cooler? Also weiboy which one's do you know of that have a thermostat? since i dont believe stillen does

you should talk to Josh@Stillen. they have the thermostatic plate sandwich adapter with the oil cooler kit. you really need that if you live in colder climate. send him a pm i'm sure he'll guide you to the correct kit for your N/A application.

Thanks Weiboy!
Yes, the STILLEN Oil Coolers do feature a thermostatic plate, that will bypass the oil when cold, begin to open at 160 degrees, and be fully open at 180 degrees, allowing the engine to come up to temperature before sending oil through the cooler.
The G37's don't have an oil temperature gauge, so unfortunately without plumbing one in you won't know how high you're getting the oil temperatures, and that became a definite and immediate issue with the 370Z guys who did get an oil temp gauge, and plenty of owners were seeing temperatures higher than they were comfortable with.
Should you be fine in normal street and mild spirited driving, sure.. Is an oil cooler a great idea, absolutely. These cars run hot, the VVEL potentially adding some additional heat, and isn't that expensive of an upgrade for what you're getting, and the confidence to know you can drive the car how you'd like.

Give Sam at GTM a call as well he has the oil cooler and thermostat as well plus ask him about the mounting bracket he has that allow it to mount in the fake breake vent in the front bumper. It is called the shumby bracked cuz it was first used on my car. lol
