Issue with Engine start button...

Just happened yesterday while leaving work...

Tried to start the car, the dash and radio turns on but the car doesn't.... So I thought it was the battery.... tried again and still wouldnt start.... Tried the 3rd time and it finally starts.....

While at a stop light, I notice that the "clutch" and "press start" image that shows up between the gauges before you start the car is still showing.

Stopped by a friends house and starts the car again.... same thing, car only started after the second try.... clutch and press start image stays on again.

Got home and tried to start the car while in the garage. . this time it starts normally again... It's been working normally again and I hope I don't jinx myself.

Anybody had the same issues before? Could it be the Key fob battery needs replacement?

sounds like the sensor telling the car your clutch is in is screwing up. I think it is just a sinple prox switch. take it to the dealer it might just need to be adjusted. if not replaced

Hmmm, I have a 2011 6mt Sedan and have noticed a few instances when it wouldn't start the first time when pushing the Start button when the clutch was engaged. I thought it was just me not pushing the clutch far enough to the floor, but I am now questioning if it might be something other. I will have to keep an eye on this to see if it is something that needs to be checked out by the dealer.

I have a similar problem... I always thoughtit was just me pressing the button too soon though. Then I'd try again and it would start up just fine..

And regarding my initial problem.... took the car out today and everything seems normal again. Car's due for service next week and I'll have them check on it.

Spoke too soon.

I was leaving the gym today...... car wouldn't start again. It only started after a few more tries.

Engine Start

The same thing started happening to me! I have a 08 6mt coupe, and noticed that with cold engine starts, sometimes the car will take multiple pushes to attempt to start. Has anyone figured out what the problem is?

The other day the car did something weird. I shut it off but the stereo stayed on, I walked out and the car started beeping as if the ignition is still on. Had to go back in, turn the car on and off again and that fixed it.

It's not the push button... it's actually the clutch sensor being mis-aligned according to my service advisor. Car doesn't recognize the clutch being pressed down sometimes.

Bring it to your dealership and it should be a free fix.

seriously??

dude, you probably pressed the ignition twice without knowing it and left the ACC power on.

Symptoms of a weak key battery are similar. Just my .02, which is usually what my car advice is worth, but you might want to start by replacing your key battery and see if that solves the problem.
