Desperate for help - PLEASE leave input (6MT)

Evening all,

So as it turns out, there's a problem with my clutch assembly. I dropped the car off at the dealership today and picked up a loaner. Here's my concern (I'm losing sleep over it) - when I initially had the car diagnosed, the mastertech along with the service advisor, made it sound like the problem with the pressure plate (uneven wear) was due to an poorly seated xxx that was repairable under warranty. BUT, today when I dropped the car off, a different service advisor had been sign a fee agreement saying that IF the issue could not be warrantied, I would owe $1200 for its replacement. I spoke with the same tech and he mentioned that IF there had been signs of overheating, then the fix could not be warrantied. Here's the thing - I f***ing dropped the clutch at 5k rpm at one point at a mother freaking track when I was trying to launch for the first time. The assembly DID OVERHEAT and the clutch did NOT grab well for the rest of the night (I turned the car off immediately after a few minutes to cool down and did not run the car after; can one mistake really do THAT much damage? The clutch simply slipped and did not catch until I let off the throttle - was fine the next morning, sort of). Not only that, but I've had 4 or 5 situations of clutch burn in reverse (hills in Seattle). I'm freaking SWEATING HERE GUYS. Any words of wisdom? I did mention to the service advisor and the tech that the problem had been a reoccuring issue (took it in a while back when the car had half the miles it does now for the same issue). I specifically mentioned that the car had been getting WORSE. SH**!!!!

HELP?!?!?!

Edit: Car has 15k on it now - 7 months old (1 owner).

Dude, posting in multi is not going to help you get response faster.

Sounds like what is done is done. So you just have to wait.

dealer said if they see signs of overheating you will be billed. you know you overheated. so not sure what wisdom your looking for. it's all at the discretion of the dealer now.

I've been to the track & launched a bunch of times no problem. But if your clutch was slipping and you were still giving it gas then your prob burnt it up a bit.

But what exactly is wrong with your clutch assembly? Will it engage & disengage? or will it do neither of those?

I had a similar incident happen to me where my clutch would not engage or disengage. I had it towed to the dealer and they claimed it was my clutch (15k miles) was gone & it would cost me $2500 out of pocket.

Well next day it turned out that my clutch master slave cylinder went out and it was all covered under warranty.

w/e the prob is i hope it works out for ya. GL OP.

Overheating a little just smells like cooked brakes. REALLY overheating could glaze the clutch disk and/or put hotspots on your flywheel. Both will be really easy to see, if it had happened.

Good luck

^ Tomie, the issue with the clutch is a little weird. It has a few issues that I thought were normal - there's quite a bit of chatter (apparently that's not normal for infinitis, yet normal for nissans?). The main issue - you know what wheel hop feels like, right? I have that in the clutch pedal. It feels like the pressure plate is almost warped and therefore not coming into contact evenly...so taking off normally in 1st is always a challenge...

you're right. i guess i'm more so hoping that what i thought was "overheating" really wasn't? Can this sort of a problem really arise from ONE bad launch though? maybe i need "overheating" defined for me....?

Hopefully they call you before they do any work. Take the car back from them and get aftermarket stuff, and have a shop put everything in. I'm sure there have to be some good shops in/around Seattle.

Infiniti = Nissan fyi

Clutch chatter is normal on these cars & sounds like u burnt the clutch plate but it should smooth itself out if u drive on it for a bit.

I know that Infiniti = Nissan, but tech today mentioned that in reference to the clutch assembly, the Z's and G's don't even use the same parts?

Damn, I dunno...this thread is pointless huh? lol.......

People who claim warranty issues for idiocy and poor driving at the track raise the price of cars and the price of service for all of us. I hope they stick you with the 1200 - AFTERALL YOU ADMIT IT IS YOUR FAULT >>> WHY SHOULD YOU NOT PAY??

Pre-apologies for the flame, but I stick to it. You are acting fraudulently and immorally.
