Looking for short and sweet answer

I know there are a lot of nuances, and there is a lot of stuff on this forum regarding force induction. Even though I'm a doctor, I can't wrap my head around it all right now - maybe repetition. To cut to the chase, I just want to know, in general - what would improve low rev performance more - supercharger or twin turbo set up? For example Stillen SC vs GTM TT. I don't think I'm going to be redlining my car too often so I'm looking more for a boost in off the line/mid range performance. I think the stock G's achilles is that it makes more of its power and torque higher in the rev range. Thanks...

Well a SC is always boosting, TT doesnt hit boost until usually over 3k rpm. So a SC should have more low end "off the line" power.

Yes, superchargers won't generate as much total power as a twin turbo setup but has more 'readily' available power (doesn't have to spin up). So it'll be more noticeable in everyday driving and provide far more low end power/torque.

not with a centrifugul blower, they start to spool around 2800-3200 rpm and reaches max boost at redline. root's type yes, you'll have tons of low end power but it drops off quickly.

Personally i think the sc is always boosting and tt isn't argument is a bad reason to go with sc over tt. But I also believe that the GTM tt is a crappy kit. I wont bash or say anything else, but I think for the G, TT is absolutely the way to go, just with someone other than gtm

sounds like you want a twin turbo setup with small turbos. it will be great off the line and midrange, but will die up top. give GTM a call and tell them what you want.

sure enough that the blower is spinning but it isn't creating any boost. i can go all the way to redline without even going into boost at all.

Thanks for the replies - appreciate it. Don't get me wrong, I want to be able to track the car at some point so top speed is a plus. Just that 95+% of the time the low end stuff is more desirable. Any suggestions for twin turbo kits outside of GTM?

If you really want more low end torque, why not look at other vehicles?

GTM's TT kit is going to get you the most power for the doller. seems to be alot more than the SC but the turbos for sure make more power and in my opinion are alot more fun than a SC.

If you have a skilled installer, I'm sure you could pick up one of the kits made for the 370Z and have the necessary parts custom fabbed (That is if you're looking outside of GTM).

Take a look at the 370Z forums, I've seen an APS and Greddy kit installed.

Lou @ Amplified is also a vendor for the HKS TT system.

IMO, best bang for your buck would be a SC since you stated that you wanted more grunt in the lower RPM's.

Not gonna buy a new vehicle until I finish residency (2.5 more years). Besides, I am never selling my G as it is the first car I bought. I plan on just making it ridiculous with time though...

I like the way you think. :-)

I wish GTM / Stillen would post some 0-60 or 1/4 times before / after installs. But, absent that, there are some Dyno graphs here and in other forums that will give you a bit more torque curve info, SC vs. TT.
As a sidebar, I know "low end torque" is important to many, espeically, those manufactures that are short on horsepower . However, when you are "serious" how much time do you spend below 2,500rpm? Just my thoughts. :-)

Yeah, we make the absolute worst kits on the market using the most unreliable components that fail just looking at them...you know, like Garrett Turbos, TiAl wastegates and Blow Off Valves, and UpRev Tuning Software. /sarcasm

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and so are the owners of our kits...contact any of the owners of these cars and see what they have to say:

^^oh yeah, and all those cars? Yup, they're all still running on the same tune and stock engine to this day with no issues. We must make one hell of a crappy kit.

You will find our GTM Twin Turbo Kit to be the MOST complete, reliable twin turbo kit in the world. We offer bang for the buck and unparalleled customer support.

On top of that, we've developed our own supercharger kit using the extremely efficient Rotrex supercharger with an ultra clean under hood look (looks like cold air intakes).

To the OP, I recommend our Stage 1 Twin Turbo kit for quick spool and excellent mid-range torque. If, later on, you decide you want more top end, a swap to the stage 2 turbos is all it takes. That's the beauty of our kit compared to others, is how easy it is to upgrade if you decide you want more later on.

If you are ever in Southern California, and you're still debating on sc vs. tt, give us a call and we'll have you drive both so you can compare first hand, which one suits you better.
