Transmission problem 08' g37
I have a 2008 5at g37 and I've already had my fair share of issues such as Getting my muffler replaced, getting my heater core flushed twice, the sport tronic shift(or whatever the simulated manual is called by Infiniti) burned out And I had to get that replaced (all under warranty) and now the scariest thing has been happening. When I come to a stop and I downshift from 2nd to first my car goes limp for like 2-5 seconds and I push down my pedal and nothing happens at all then after a few seconds it finally kicks in and I look like and idiot because my car jerks forward. This happens occasionally and only when im decelerating and downshifting to first. The scary part is I've rolled through an intersection with oncoming traffic and my car has done this. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Does it do it when you let the auto transmission do all the work (aka leave it in Drive and leave well enough alone)?

Hello everyone, my car is at the shop as we speak on this same matter. I dropped it off 2 days ago, and said they could not duplicate it, so I drove back to the dealer and took the service foreman and sure enough I was able to duplicate. So now waiting til for the "super tech" to take a look at it. They mentioned that there was no TSB, what gives?

What you describe is normal with all 5at Gs as far as I know (others could probably confirm) and I doubt they will be able to fix this! You just have to learn to live with it or find a way around it. By the way, I'm not sure why you shift from 2 to 1 when coming to stop. I've had the car for 3 years now and don't even downshift to 2 when coming to a complete stop. It seems like the 5at transmission doesn't even like to downshift from 2 to 1 by itself and like to go straight from 3 to 1.
I hope that helps! Please do let us know if Infiniti could find a fix for this! Pretty annoying indeed!

Update: Just got back from the dealer, and they stated that when the brake and down shift is applied the computer is said to stop and that is why you get the delay; not happy with the answer, but what the heck can I do......well there you go.

you know when I had my 05 g coupe 5at, this would happen to me.
I recall one time I was in a publix plaza...hit a straight-away..up shifted to 2nd...approached the stop sign..downshifted to first...then my car just got to creeping point..saw an opening...decided to hit it..started to come out the plaza...car started jerking and almost stalled to basically coasting for like 4 seconds while the cars just came out halling-azz...and this car had to slam on their brakes before they rear ended me....then its like power just magically came back....and proceeded to redline the **** out of it.

I think this is only happening to people who are switching to DS mode then manually shifting it through 1 - 3 gears. Again, not sure why they are doing that .... if you want to drive aggresive, I think plain old DS mode works fine and let the car shift itself.

You wouldn't downshift from 2nd to 1st in a manual when coming to a stop, so why do it with the auto. It is probably a safety/reliability feature built in to preserve the transmission.
