rev the engine in neutral then throw the car into drive while flooring the gas.

you can also try some skinnier less sticky tires. that way when you f up the tires they will be some inferior lower cost tire instead of the stock potenzas im assuming.

Won't that damage the transmission?

My old BMW's auto would never let me shift into Drive from Neutral unless the car was under 2000 RPM... Or was that just a safety thing?

it's been 60 here in the mid atlantic and the tires get loose on my 6mt up around 5500 rpms. the tires light up going all the way through second gear until i have to shift into third. tires spin in third gear for a bit too.

i feel your pain though man, i had a 5.0 liter mustang auto that wouldn't spin tires in a straight line.

6MT FTW! I can spin tires in 3rd gear Oh yea, FWIW, neutral drops are bad for your tranny. Wanna do burn outs? Get crappy tires.

I read somewhere (maybe on the 370Z forum?) that the software intentionally pulls back the throttle response curve at the bottom of first gear. So if an aftermarket tune can recalibrate or remove that, it might solve your problem.

My old 3.2 TL with the 5AT would squeal the tires off the line much easier than my G37, despite less power and taller gearing in first. The G is a much faster car - it would absolutely eat the TL alive, at least after the first 10 feet or so.

That's what I read here, the ECU doesn't open the throttle 100% even if you floor it. I assumed a tune would correct that.

Try this one..step on the brake pedal and gas at the same time (step pretty good on the brake pedal) when its up to 3500rpm, step off the brake pedal for less than a second and then step on it again really hard (never steping off the gas) and then put some more gas. Releasing the brake pedal at the beginning will shift your car's weight-energy to the back, by braking rapidly it'll shift it to the front, this momentum shift to the front (by the second braking) will allow for the rear end to be "less heavy" for just a fraction of a second and as a result the tires will spin easier. Once theyre spinnning step pretty good on the brake (and gas) pedal until you feel the tires will have a long fight to get the grip back after you release the brakes again, then there youll have yout itch gone
