First oil change?
I've got around 1200 miles on my '10 G37 and have yet to take it in for an oil change (I bought it in April). The service manual recommends 3750 miles/3 months for Schedule 1 service and 7500 miles/6 months for Schedule 2. I'm thinking of going with Schedule 2 since the car is driven in good conditions and not exposed to harsh temps.
I don't know what type of oil they used when I first bought the car (I'm assuming standard 5W-30 oil and not Ester oil). I know that engine oil loses its viscosity over time, but is it still too soon to bring in the car for it's first oil change?

As for me, I don't really drive aggressively that often but I like to change the oil frequently every 3K miles or so....just to be on the safe side lol. plus I do my own oil changes in 10 minutes so it isn't really that costly or that big of a deal to me. I learned everything from my dad and he's maintained a honda for 18 years, a maxima for 16 years (and counting) and a mercedes for I think 12 years (still running) so I put my trust in his teachings lol.

I also use full synthetic (mobil 1) but in general I think the timing for changing your oil depends on how you drive the car; people who drive more aggressively should change their oil more frequently.

Just so you guys know the quality of Mobil 1 has come down a LOT in the past couple of years, its still good oil but I would not let it go past 5k in my car. A lot of guys on corvetteforum.com (my other car is a 540HP Corvette) do a oil anaylisis on their mobil 1 and have seen the changes.

There are UOAs on a number of oils in a sticky thread in this very forum, including two I did with Mobil1 and one with Pennzoil Ultra. From my results I will not be using Mobil1 in this car any more. I won't go beyond 7500 miles right now because I do not want to chance having to some day fight with Infiniti over a engine problem possibly being caused by the oil. Once the warranty is done I will move up beyond 7500. At the rate I am going it will be sometime near the end of next year.
