How to Manual Shift in a 7AT
So, I have been having fun learning the car for the past six months. I have been messing around with the manual mode on the 7AT. Years ago I learned how to drive on a Yugo manual. Hard car to drive because it was not smooth at all. I moved onto a low end Toyota Pickup. Again not the best manual out there.
Then all my cars after that have been automatics. Mainly because the wife cant drive manual. So the question is, I remember driving the manual. Releasing the gas, pushing the clutch, switching the gears, then going back to the gas.
So, how does this work in the 7At while driving manual. Do you release the gas to switch the gears? Do you keep on the gas? Does it matter?
Thanks.

It's downshifting with the 7AT that bugs me. If you wait too long, it'll downshift two gears on you - the one you shift, AND the one it was going to shift. If you do it too soon, the rev matching does strange stuff.
Get going about 20 in 2nd gear, hit the brakes firmly and drop it into 1st. Just don't do it with anything in front of you as it will surge.
