Gas mixing with Oil
I just changed my oil last night, there is 22000 miles on my car, I switched from conventional oil at 12000 miles, I used royal purple, and it has been 10000 miles since I last changed it, royal purp full synthetic says it should be changed at 12000 miles (no thanks), so i decided to change it at 10K. At around 15k or 16k I put on the stillen gen 3 cold air intake (so it was about halfway through the oil period), When I took the old oil out, my dad who was helping me pointed out that there was strong smell of gas coming from the old oil. He said he just had the same problem with his supercharged mustang, because it was running too rich and he needed a better tune. I'm just curious how mine got that way because I am 100% stock other than the cai, and what should I do so that this is not happening????
hopefully some techs know what is going on or this has happened to others so i can get some advice
Thanks guys

It's probably contaminated now unless you drained it into a perfectly clean container, but you should have taken a sample and set it to a lab for analysis. No offense to your dad's nose but it's not a scientifically accepted method of measuring anything. Used oil analaysis will tell you the truth. Especially since you choose to run extended drain intervals.

well what would the mixture be cause from, its a 2009 g37x the only thing i have done is put the intake on, and switched to synthetic oil like i said at 12000 miles its been 10000 miles 22000 this is the second oil change that i have had with the full synthetic. and now there is brand new oil in it, would a tune fix it, i smelled it too obv and there was definitely and odor of gas in it he still has the old oil sitting in his jug at my parents house should i take some of it for a sample

Gasoline in your oil could be caused by blowby of fuel past the piston rings. You say it smells strongly. Do a preliminary test by pouring some into a wide shallow container and trying to light it with a match. If it lights very easily, it may have excessive fuel in it. Of course this just a preliminary indicator and doesn't really tell you much.
If your used oil hasn't been mixed with anything else and the container it's in isn't contaminated with anything else at all, then send a sample to Blackstone Labs and find out for sure. It would be interesting to see a Royal Purple UOA form 10K miles.

what a UOA some kind of oil analysis, wheres blackstone labs, and how much does it cost for an analysis??
so lets say the fuel does blowby the piston ring, is that due to the cold air intake being installed, meaning the car is getting too much air or something along those lines, and would a simple tune correct the fuel blowby in the pistons???
i guess what i'm asking is okay if this is the problem gas is getting into the piston which is getting into the oil pan, what do I do? how do i fix it?

UOA - Used Oil Analysis.
Blowby isn't caused by any intake. The intake isn't causing gas in your oil. I don't know what is.
I cant say if it's blowby is for certain, that's just a cause of fuel in the oil. Not the only one.
Start here: Blackstone Labs
From the UOA you may get some info to help yo diagnose your problem.

I'm probably guessing thats what it is because you really had to get your nose close to the oil to smell the gas it wasn't like you could smell the gas when it was draining. So i'm gonna guess that that is what happened with my oil thanks guys
