SES Light on at 3700 miles

SES (Service Engine Soon) Light on at 3700 miles. Is there any way to read what it is complaining about? I've seen other vehicles have a feature where you can hold down a button and turn the ignition to ACC and have the codes displayed somehow.

Have an appointment with dealer tomorrow morning, but was curious.

This is a completely stock '10 G37S 6MT.

A dealership or most any shop can read the code. Many auto parts stores can read the code for you for free. You can buy an OBD code reader for about $60 and read codes and reset the light yourself.

Check that your gas cap is on tight before doing anything else.

most likely for oil change as the first one is due at 3700 miles.

A need for an oil change does NOT trigger a SES.

I had the same issue, but I olny have 2,070 miles on my G. The dealership called me yesterday and they informed me that my SES light was on because I had a bad gas cap.

That's always the first thing that should be checked with an SES. Or it could be just not screwed on tight enough in some cases.

My SES light came on at 3400 miles on my new g37x. I lost all power to the gas pedal and my car slowly began to lose speed. Also my VDC light and traction control lights came on. I pulled over and let it rest for like 5 minutes and restarted it no problem. Drove to the nearest dealership and they said that they ran every test imaginable and couldnt replicate the problem. There was nothing wrong with it and when they reset the computer the SES light did not return. Havent had a problem since, just kind of pissed me off for a brand new car to go on the fritz... Anyone else heard anything about this happening?
