Older or not, tried and true usually works with mechanics. When Front wheel drives first came out in 1980 or so, the auto mechanics Hated it: the tire will wear out much sooner (they were Right), the front end parts will wear out sooner (they are Right). Did it improve traction compared to the old rear wheel drive cars? - absolutely.... But now the cars' handling were out of balance so to speak. Now we are back to rear wheel drives with ESP/Traction control systems - traction is better , But ask anyone that drives in slippery / snowy condition TC or ESP or not without snow tires - You will Slip and Slide... I guess the moral to story is: Yes technologies change ie, DOS to Windows [btw even Windows 7 is STILL A SHELL TO THE OLD DOS system, not like Apple), but certain things, particularly mechanical like valves in car engines, the words of "wisdom' from the Old timers should be heeded, IMHO....Good luck with your Gs ladies & gentlemen.
