Shifter Button Gets Stuck

Shifter Button Gets Stuck
I ve been having this problem with my 09 G37 coupe, Ill get in the car, start her up, grab the shifter and press the button, and it gets jammed. I usually just let go and the shifter and press it again and it works. But more recently it has been getting locked up much more often. I told Infiniti service about it twice, they said your pressing the brake to late, and/or your trying to get it stuck on purpose.. They insisted nothing is wrong. Any one have any suggestions?

I have noticed something about my shifter but not sure if it's the way it is but hope it helps.
When I first start the car (holding brake since that's how we start our engine), my shifter will get stuck like the way yours do when I don't let go the brake after the engine is started. Most of the time when I let go of the brake after starting the engine and move the shifter while holding the brake again, the "stuck shifter" problem don't happen.
Not sure if you've tried it, but try waiting about 1-2 seconds after starting the engine and press on the brake again to move the shifter. If you've tried it, sorry I have nothing better to offer. Hope your issue gets resolved soon!

Yep. Happens to me too. I just figured I was late on the brakes or too quick trying to shift after applying the brakes. I do find when I let the car warm up for 20 sec or so and pressing the brakes for a few secs before trying to shift, it never happens.

Dunno if it makes a difference for you guys, but mine sticks sometimes if I squeeze the button down too fast. But it never sticks when I squeeze it down a little "slower".

This happens to me a lot, can't figure out what it is =D
its as if the car wants you to wait. the slowly squeezing works for me, but again, that could be a timing thing.
Best practices: let the car warm up then go. problem solved.
