7AT, can not shift from P to D w/o press the button twice

My G has 7AT. Got it 4 months ago, but I don't drive it much, so I'm still getting used to it. I don't know if this is normal.

After cold startup and decent warm up, I can NOT shift from P to D when I press down the stick button for the first time. I have to release it and press the button again before I'm able to shift out of P.

This doesn't seem to happen at warm startup though.

Is this normal?
Is anything wrong with my transmission?

I've noticed the same issue. I just chalked it up to user error. It seems when I really pay attention, put my foot on the brake, and push the button with authority I don't have the problem.

Mine happens sometimes at both cold and warm startups. If I try to put it gear immediately after startup the button won't depress. I've learned to wait a few seconds after startup before attempting to shift. If yours is extraordinary long you may need the shifter lock mechanism looked at.

I get it at times too. It never bothered me enough to analyze when it actually happens and when it doesn't. I also just figure that I didn't push the button correctly.

Mine does it all the time as well. I even took it back to the dealer the first week of owning the car. They said its normal. I've gotten so used to it i actually double tap it without thinking about it most the time. I have noticed that it seems to be much worse when you are parked on an angle. If I park on flat ground it doesnt always require the double tap.

Maybe it's just me, but if I press the button down a little slower, it always releases on the first try.

This happened to me a few times... always when I'm in a hurry/excited to go for a drive... I think the problem is not having the brake pressed down far enough before trying to shift from P to R/D. I don't believe this is anything to be concerned about.

I messed with mine the other day and noticed that when I put a little pressure on the shifter while pressing thebutton is when it wouldent come out of park. Really pay attention to fully pressing the button before pulling back on the shifter and it should shift fine every time.

Mine does this about 1 time a week. I just figured I didn't push the brake pedal in enough.

That happened on my 07 G35X. Haven't noticed yet on the new 2010. Just got it.
