Intakes void tranny?

Hey everyone,

I'm at 16k in the G coupe. I have the tanabe + Takeda SRI. And before I bring it to the dealer to see about the tranny being fixed I wanted to know if they could say anything about intakes messing with the tranny?

The transmission is grinding 2nd sometimes when normal driving ie. city driving etc.

3rd Gear is just rough shifting into, feels like metal to metalish and can never get a smooth shift to it.

But would the dealer say anything about the intakes? Or should I remove them before I take it in to the dealer?

This isn't a lease.

Any information would be very helpful!!!

Thanks!!!

the only way it can void any kind of warranty is if they can prove that the intake is what caused the problem

I suppose they could say the increased HP is taxing on the tranny... BS
I have stillen g3, I'm going in for a throw out bearing tomorrow. I"m most likely going to remove the intakes tonight, just in case.

they can SAY whatever they want...but legally unless they can prove that the aftermarket modifications caused the problems they have no cause to charge you and not fix it under warranty

Depends on the dealer. I've taken my car in countless times with exhaust and CAI and no mentioning of them being a problem. One of the service had to do with throttle but they didn't blame it on the intake. Later on the problem was found to be somewhere else. Good to have an honest consultant.

I think if you have the time, remove the intake. If not, be prepare to defend yourself if they try to blame it on the mods.

Alright, so the safest thing is to remove the intakes?

And is the tranny covered under warranty???? i'm almost 100% certain my synchros are done.

to save all the hassle and your worries. put back the oem air boxes. they might think you race your car and blame you for the problem.

Yes, it's part of the drivetrain.. but they won't 'fix' the issue, they will throw a whole transmission at it.

Yes, I've read about a few members on the forums getting new tranny because of synchro problems.

I had a transmission issue at around 16k miles as well. mine had stillen intakes, headers, and a full borla exhaust and they replaced my transmission without a problem. never said anything about it.
