Engine revved by itself

k so delaership called, still no progress. they are going toh ave an engineer from infiniti coming within the next couple of days.... in the meantime, the service advisor asked for my permission to be able to drive my car back to his place round trip 60 miles for the next couple of days... this was a nightmare right from the start.... once again infiniti consumer affairs is of no help and their "regional specialist" has yet to call me.

if that were me on a leased vehicle I would ask them to let you out of the contract. Unless you put a bunch of $$ down, which hopefully you did not on a lease. Either get them to do something special on a '10 or go find another alternative.

I have been driving my Infiniti since the engine rev. No problems to report since then. I have been driving with different conditions (DS, Manual shifting, aggressive driving, etc). No problems as of yet. I will continue to monitor the status of the car and report back here if I run into problems.

c4racer it stinks because its almost impossible to get out of... im waiting to hear back from my dealer.. if they give me back the car with no "fix" im going to go see my legal options.. i will tell the dealership , either they replace the car or else i ll have to find some legal action and possibly contact the state attorney generals office.

maybe it's just a part of the cars we need to get to live with. My 2010 7AT does the same thing. But calling it an "engine rev" would be misleading. As it downshifts it sort of lurches. It's minimal but it does happen. It seems like the tranny is not rev matching enough to drop down a gear, or better yet, maybe it applies the rev-matching before the tranny is engaged so you get the lurch before tranny engagement.
Either way, it doesn't seem like a big deal. Even if you're not expecting it it's only for a couple hundred miliseconds and shouldn't cause or contribute to an accident.
Again, mine doesn't "rev up" as sort of implied here. I think they all just shift a little weird and you have to get used to it.

I have not had a chance to call Infiniti yet. A bunch of other stuff going on right now.
Driving the car without problem over the last couple of days has also lessened my resolve. If I can replicate the problem, I will be all over it. For now, I am not concerned. I am keeping an "eye" on things for now and will pursue with more vigor if another incident occurs.

yes, 4wheel. this is a little bit different for a couple of us. this was when in park. revved to about 4K RPMs. I am not as concerned as some. Since the car did not move, i never felt in any kind of danger myself. I was concerned for the engine. It has not happened since, so I am still playing a wait and see. Based off of what everybody is saying, I wont get anything out of the dealer since they wont find anything.
If I feel safe and it happens again, i might just let it keep revving. if it blows the engine, then somebody will take notice. that is for sure.

I actually experienced this once in my '08 coupe. It never happened again so I didn't think much of it. Seems like it could be a bigger problem. I'll keep my eye on my RPMs next time.

called dealership they said they couldnt find anything wrong... the engineer or as they call it "factory tech", so now they are waiting to find out from service "something" to see how to proceed. reason why it is important o me is i had the car not even 3 days and it happened twice.
